HS Banquet Brings Hollywood Glamour

Written by Kaiden Holst, Student Council President

On February 6, 202 HS students transformed Crest 72 into a dazzling Hollywood scene for the annual Winter Banquet, A Night in Hollywood. Sparkling dresses, vibrant smiles, and enchanting music filled up the venue as students gathered to celebrate and create lasting memories with friends.

Upon arrival, attendees were greeted by stunning Hollywood-themed décor—from a cinematic Director’s Corner photo spot to elegant Oscar trophy centerpieces at each table, all handcrafted by the YISS PTO. The creativity and attention to detail set the stage for an unforgettable evening. For dinner, students enjoyed a delectable buffet featuring everything from sashimi to savory pesto gnocchi, with many describing the food as one of the night’s highlights.

Continuing a beloved tradition from last year, the student band—Emma S. (12), Boaz L. (12), Yu Kun C. (12), Aaron K. (12), Brian E. (11), David K. (10), and Caroline R. (11)—took the stage to perform crowd favorites, including “Yellow” and “End of Beginning,” elevating the atmosphere.

Adding to the immersive Oscars experience, this year’s banquet introduced a new feature: the Winter Banquet Awards. Students cast votes for titles such as Most Hype, Dynamic Duo, and Mr./Ms. Yongsan, while Student Council selected Best Dressed winners for their standout looks.

Throughout the evening, students competed in lively Scavenger Hunt and Guess the Price games, captured memories at photobooths, danced with friends, and entered a raffle featuring prizes such as Dubai chocolate cookies and Sony headphones.

As the fourth Winter Banquet since returning from COVID, Student Council was committed to making this year’s celebration the most engaging yet. By incorporating student feedback on the theme and music selection, introducing interactive activities like the Awards and Scavenger Hunt, and collaborating closely with multiple teams, the council worked to ensure every detail enhanced the Hollywood experience.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the YISS PTO, the Communications Team, the Student Band, the Crest 72 coordinators, and the HS Administration for their invaluable support. Most importantly, thank you to the HS students whose enthusiasm and spirit made the night truly shine.
