Guardian Ambassadors Host Spring New Student Social

By Desirae Schroeder, Elementary School Counselor

Welcoming new students into the YISS elementary community is something we truly enjoy celebrating. Each semester, our Guardian Ambassadors partner with the Elementary School counselors and leadership team to host a New Student Social that helps recently enrolled students connect, make friends, and feel at home.

Guardian Ambassadors—fourth- and fifth-grade student leaders—help create a welcoming and inclusive environment by guiding activities, introducing themselves to new students, and encouraging everyone to participate.

During the event, the ES gym, basement MPR, and kindergarten playground were filled with students enjoying games like chess, hula hoops, bowling, frisbee, and other playground favorites. Wearing their uniforms with pride, the Guardian Ambassadors demonstrated leadership and kindness while helping new students feel comfortable and included.

The celebration ended with a special farewell parade as the Guardian Ambassadors lined up to wave goodbye to the new students. It was a memorable and heartwarming moment. Thanks to everyone who hosted and participated, our elementary students left the event feeling welcomed, supported, and ready to embrace the school year.
