LEARN, LEAD, EXCEL

At YISS, we empower students with a rigorous education to become tomorrow's leaders. We aim to instill a love of learning in our students that endures beyond graduation.

EXPECTED SCHOOLWIDE LEARNING RESULTS (ESLRs)

In the pursuit of learning, developing spiritual identity, relationships, and core character, a YISS student is…

SPIRITUAL & CHARACTER EDUCATION

Within a diverse community, YISS emphasizes both spiritual and character education in our classrooms, chapels, assemblies, special events, and service-learning opportunities. Spiritual education involves the deepening of students’ knowledge of and relationships with God, while character education involves examining ideal character traits and learning how to practically live as people of character.

LEARNING SUPPORT

At Yongsan International School of Seoul (YISS), we believe every student has the innate capacity to learn, grow, and thrive. Guided by our core values of truth, excellence, and diversity, we are dedicated to cultivating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where each student’s unique strengths and potential are recognized and nurtured. Our goal is to ensure that every learner has the opportunity to achieve success academically, socially, and personally.

Student Learning Support (SLS)

The Student Learning Support (SLS) program at YISS provides specialized assistance for students with learning differences and those acquiring English as an additional language. Our team of qualified educators and paraprofessionals partners closely with classroom teachers, families, and students to promote success through a range of instructional support. Our approach includes:

  • Collaborative Instruction: Student Learning Support teachers work alongside classroom teachers to provide inclusive instruction within the general education setting.

  • Targeted Support: Structured academic labs and study skills classes offer focused assistance designed to strengthen specific learning areas.

  • Small Group Instruction: Modified and individualized support is provided in smaller settings to reinforce core skills, support language acquisition, and build learner confidence.

Through these services, we seek to ensure that all students experience belonging, access, and growth as they engage fully in the YISS learning community.

SERVICE LEARNING

At YISS, through community events, service trips, and classroom projects, our students work to make a difference in our world. Throughout each year, the YISS community takes part in various service projects and trips including the Oak Tree Run, Operation Christmas Child, the middle school Week Without Walls and Immersion programs, and the high school Guardian Outreach and Education (GOES) program.
