Used Uniform Sale Helps Support Sustainability

The Used Uniform Sale, organized by the YISS PTO, offers YISS families the chance to purchase gently-used school uniforms at affordable prices ranging from ₩2,000 to ₩5,000. Chaired for several years by Diya Bhagat, this event reflects the YISS PTO’s commitment to “go green” by reducing waste, reusing school uniforms, and saving families money.

Held once per semester, this year’s sale took place in the main lobby on August 26, in tandem with the Newcomers’ Coffee—but the planning started much earlier. Donations of used uniforms were collected during the final week of May, giving the PTO sufficient time to build up a large inventory, sort items by size and style, and prepare for the sale. Thanks to the time and efforts of PTO volunteers, who handled collection, setup, operations, and cleanup, the sale was a huge success. All proceeds will be used to support other school events and student enrichment programs.

More than simply a fundraiser, the Used Uniform Sale is a tangible expression of the YISS PTO’s commitment to sustainability and community care. Whether parents are looking for a new set of uniforms or hoping to donate old ones, this sale is a perfect opportunity to give back.
