Newcomers’ Coffee Hosts Over 80 New Parents

On August 26, the YISS PTO, in partnership with school administrators, hosted the Newcomers' Coffee to welcome and meet families who are new to the YISS community. A total of over 80 new parents attended across the two sessions. The event not only allowed school administrators and the PTO board to connect with our newest families but also to share about the PTO's activities and how parents can get involved in all school divisions.

YISS is a school that greatly values parent involvement. Many of the programs and events held throughout the year to enrich student learning and create fun memories would not be possible without the willing and dedicated parent and staff volunteers.

Student Body President, Kaiden Holst, stopped by the event to share her experiences as a YISS student. Having attended YISS through all divisions—elementary, middle, and high school—Kaiden offered valuable insight into student life and spoke about what she has most enjoyed during her years at YISS.

Maria José Lopez Grancha, mother of three middle and high school boys, shared about her experience as a new parent and the benefits of getting involved and working with others in the school community. Director of the Itaewon Global Village Center, Katherine Cortez, also attended the event to share about the many programs they offer to provide resources for expatriates living in Korea.

Thank you, PTO Hospitality Co-Chairs Jennifer Clyde and Miyeon Lee, the PTO Board, and school administrators for coordinating such a lovely event to welcome new families and provide an opportunity for connection.
