Guardians Shatter Records and Claim Championship Titles
Written by Eduard Booysen, Track and Field Coach
The YISS Varsity Track & Field season was defined by extraordinary grit and record-breaking success. The journey began with several meets at HHS throughout March, building momentum for the ACSC Championships in Manila (April 8-12). ACSC was hosted by Faith Academy on the outskirts of Manila. Athletes participated in a meaningful service project with Kids International Ministries before competing at Brent International School. Despite extremely hot, unfavorable conditions and injuries, our Guardians pushed through. The results were spectacular: the YISS Girls were crowned 1st place Champions (3rd year in a row), while the Boys fought hard to secure a strong 4th place. Keado Frederick was a force to be reckoned with, earning the ACSC Top Field Athlete award and an All-Tournament selection. Joining him as All-Tournament for the Girls were Emma Tomlinson, Brena Nerooban, and Kaiden Holst.
The season reached its peak at the KAIAC Championships on April 25. Our athletes left everything on the track, resulting in several individual and team records. The YISS Girls placed second overall, and the Boys took third. Together, the combined YISS Track and Field program is ranked second, a testament to their incredible hard work and determination.
This year, our Guardians didn't just compete; they rewrote the history books. The YISS Track & Field team achieved a total of 20 new school records and an additional 74 entries into the all-time top 10 lists. The coaches and greater YISS community are extremely proud of every athlete who stepped onto the track this year. Your hard work has set a high bar for the future of YISS Athletics!
