Middle School Swim Team Shines at Championships

On March 14, the YISS Middle School Swim Team capped off its season at the KAIAC Middle School Championships, hosted at Yongsan International School of Seoul. The event brought together 151 swimmers from eight international schools, marking a meaningful culmination of the season and an opportunity for athletes to showcase their growth, determination, and heart.

The team was made up of an incredible group of swimmers who demonstrated commitment and heart throughout the season. Scoring for YISS at the championships were: Stephen B. (8), Jordyn C. (8), Claire H. (6), Dylan H. (8), Inah K. (7), Gianna K. (8), Hanna K. (6), JooA L. (7), Sophie L. (7), Yuri L. (6), Abigail L. (8), Daniel L. (8), Yeseong L. (7), Damien N. (7), Elias S. (8), Ian S. (6), Hannah T. (8), Tristan T. (8), Gabriel W. (8), and Philip W. (6).

Supporting and strengthening the team throughout the season were: Jongyu C. (6), Eve C. (6), Isabel G. (6), Ella H. (7), Evelyn H. (7), Lynn K. (7), JaeEun K. (7), Katie L. (6), Aaron L. (7), and Serafina S. (6).

Though the season was short, it was filled with one purpose. Each practice, race, and shared moment reflected growth, perseverance, and a strong sense of team unity. For many swimmers, the journey has been years in the making—progressing from elementary swim programs into confident, determined middle school athletes.

The Guardians delivered an outstanding performance, finishing 2nd overall in the combined team standings. The girls’ team earned an impressive 2nd-place finish, while the boys’ team placed 4th. Hosting the championship while achieving such results made the accomplishment even more meaningful.

Individual achievements added to the excitement, as Inah K. claimed the Girls 50 Freestyle title, and Dylan H. captured gold in the Boys 50 Breaststroke. These performances, along with strong swims across the roster, contributed to the team’s overall success.

Several swimmers earned All-Tournament honors, including Abigail L., Inah K., and Dylan H.—an acknowledgment of their excellence, consistency, and impact throughout the meet.

Beyond the results, the team distinguished itself through its sportsmanship and unity. The swimmers supported one another, pushed each other to improve, and competed with pride and integrity—representing their school with integrity and heart.

The KAIAC Championships marked a powerful close to a season defined by dedication, growth, and teamwork. The team’s accomplishments set a strong standard for the future.
