Food Writer James Park Shares His Journey

James Park, a Brooklyn-based culinary producer and the author of the Chili Crisp: 50+ Recipes To Satisfy Your Spicy, Crunchy, Garlicky Cravings, brought his compelling narrative as a Korean immigrant in America to our middle and high school students. During the discussion, he highlighted how he discovered the flavorful world of chili crisps within Chinese cuisine, which profoundly shaped his personal journey. Through this newfound interest, he reconnected with his Korean heritage by exploring the fusion of chili crisps with traditional Korean foods.

Our students actively engaged with James, asking questions about his journey and sampling his homemade chili crisps paired with various dishes. In return, James listened to the students as they shared their stories and aspirations, offering encouragement for their future endeavors. The interaction between James and our students was both enriching and delightful, with a shared appreciation for delicious chili crisps serving as the backdrop to this unique learning experience.
