Guardians Successfully Launch Inaugural ACSCMUN

Yongsan International School of Seoul was proud to host the inaugural ACSC Model United Nations Conference from October 24 to 26. Delegates from International Christian School - Hong Kong, Faith Academy (Philippines), Morrison Academy (Taiwan), and YISS engaged in global dialogue and diplomacy. Covering four committees across eleven conference sessions, YISS delegates negotiated aid for Palestine, eased tensions in the Taiwan Strait, brought peace to Eastern Europe after the Yugoslav Wars, and brought an end to the Kronstadt Rebellion at the end of the Russian Civil War.

While the weekend was full of lively debate, it was the joint volunteer project involving delegates from all schools that brought the heart of service to the weekend conference. Partnering with the Korea Legacy Committee, delegates prepared non-perishable food for shipment and distribution to Jeju’s elderly population, and worked in the KLC kitchen, preparing soy sauce-marinated eggs for lunchboxes for the elderly in Seoul. As Korea has one of the highest rates of elderly poverty in the world, providing lunches for those who may not know where their next meal will come from is a small but potent way to make a difference locally.

Before the final day of conferencing, all delegates enjoyed an evening at Seoul’s Gwangjang Market, sampling Korean street food and bonding with their newfound friends from other schools. The spirit of service and camaraderie ensured respectful competition throughout the conference.

Thank you to the YISS and high school administration for supporting our MUN team in the first of many ACSC Model United Nations Conferences to come!
