Fifth Graders Design Bridges to Rescue Capybaras

Mr. Krahn’s 5th Grade Technology class took on a design and engineering challenge during the third quarter. Their mission was to build a bridge to cross a dangerous, crocodile-infested river so that Anna could rescue capybaras in danger. Each group received identical materials and began by researching different bridge types, including beam, suspension, and arch designs.

After planning, students moved into construction, testing their ideas and making improvements along the way. Throughout the project, they developed skills in collaboration, problem-solving, and perseverance as they adjusted their designs to meet the challenge.

A special congratulations goes out to the four teams whose bridges were not only long and tall enough, but also withstood over three kilograms in the stress test. Well done, 5th graders!
