YISS Students Put RAK Into Action

This school year, middle school and elementary counselors have been working together to help build a caring and inclusive community at YISS for our students in all divisions. We hosted two RAK (Random Acts of Kindness) in Action Events this fall semester: a RAK jamboree and spirit squad poster-making.

For the RAK jamboree, elementary and middle school students were invited to play with the JV and varsity basketball teams to learn about their sport. The high school players taught new skills and played with the younger athletes throughout the event.

The spirit squad poster-making event included middle school and elementary students working together with the high school Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) to make posters for the basketball and swim teams to show support at home games.

These RAK In Action events helped students feel included and supported in their pursuits, encouraged students to develop healthy connections between children of all ages, and show care for each other through building school spirit.
