Varsity Girls Volleyball Rises Through Every Challenge

Written by Emily Flaget, Varsity Girls Volleyball Coach

The 2025 YISS Varsity Girls Volleyball season was defined by grit, growth, and genuine team spirit. From practices to high-pressure tournament showdowns, the Guardians consistently displayed determination and perseverance.

After finishing 3rd in the KAIAC regular season standings, the Guardians entered the postseason with confidence. With several returning athletes and a strong group of underclassmen stepping up, the team focused on developing its team identity, composure, and cohesion. Their hard work paid off throughout the season in a series of nail-biting matches and inspiring comebacks.

In October, the team traveled to Chiang Mai, Thailand, to compete in the ACSC Volleyball Tournament against top international schools from across Asia. The Guardians dominated pool play, winning six matches and earning the 2nd seed heading into bracket play. Although the final rounds brought tougher competition, the girls fought hard and finished 4th overall. Amy P. (10) was honored for her outstanding performance and consistency with a well-deserved spot on the All-Tournament Team.

The momentum carried into the KAIAC Tournament, hosted at SIS, where the Guardians played some of their most thrilling volleyball of the season. In the quarterfinals, YISS staged a dramatic five-set reverse sweep against SIS, showcasing their resilience and refusal to quit. Riding that momentum, the Guardians advanced to the third-place match against KIS. The final proved to be another intense battle, with every rally demanding endurance and teamwork. YISS ultimately prevailed in two tightly contested sets to claim 3rd place in the tournament.

Individual honors capped off the team’s success. Libero Jaelyn K. (11) led the team in passing and earned All-Conference, All-Tournament, and Best Passer awards. Captain and setter Chloe S. (11) also continued her strong leadership and was also named to the All-Conference Team.

Congratulations, Guardians, on an unforgettable 2025 season!
