VBS Takes Students on an Adventure through Rainforest Falls

Written by Simon Adams, Elementary Chaplain

The final days of the school year provided a meaningful opportunity for the entire elementary school to come together and encourage one another through Rainforest Falls VBS. For NICS students, Vacation Bible School offered an engaging way to explore the nature of God as revealed through Jesus Christ. For Oasis students, Values-Based School provided opportunities to develop stronger friendships and practice positive relationship-building skills as the year came to a close.

Each of the three mornings began with a lively auditorium program featuring teacher-led skits, rainforest-themed animal videos, and interactive discussions. Oasis students read books filled with practical strategies for building and maintaining healthy friendships, helping them navigate the transitions that often accompany the end of a school year. Meanwhile, NICS students studied Scripture, participated in worship, and examined the attributes of God as revealed through the life of Christ. Through these lessons, students gained a deeper understanding of both God’s character and their own identity.

VBS kept students actively engaged throughout the week. In addition to the auditorium sessions, students participated in games and crafts designed to reinforce the program’s key themes. Interactive activities encouraged children to think more deeply about God’s nature and the importance of cultivating meaningful friendships, all while having fun together. Theme-based crafts provided students with tangible reminders they could take into the summer, helping them remember the lessons they learned about faith, friendship, and intentional living.

While VBS served as a joyful celebration and conclusion to the school year, it also offered students valuable lessons they can carry forward into their daily lives. Through engaging activities and opportunities for reflection, students were equipped with practical tools to strengthen their faith and build healthy relationships.
