Middle School Yearbook Receives Silver Award

Written by Melanie Roberts, Middle School Yearbook Sponsor

The Middle School yearbook staff earned a Silver Award from the Jostens Recognition Program this year, a prestigious honor that recognizes outstanding yearbook programs for excellence in creativity, organization, production, and marketing. The award reflects months of dedication and collaboration by the student staff, who worked diligently to meet deadlines, manage complex page layouts, and engage the school community throughout the year.

A defining feature of this year’s publication was its “Greatest Hits” theme, which highlighted the staff’s creativity and growth as storytellers and designers. Students experimented with dynamic visual transitions and bold design concepts across seasonal spreads, giving each section a distinctive style while maintaining a cohesive reading experience. One of the publication’s most innovative additions was the inclusion of scannable Spotify codes, allowing readers to access curated playlists that complemented each season and enhanced the yearbook’s interactive appeal.

Capturing the school year in its entirety required an extraordinary commitment from the staff. Students completed more than 180 photography assignments, conducted 161 interviews, and captured 1,917 photographs. Every page, caption, and image was carefully selected and crafted to preserve the stories, achievements, and memorable moments of the year.

The result was a 172-page publication with a print run of 285 copies, serving as both a historical record and a celebration of the Middle School community. The Silver Award recognizes not only the quality of the finished book but also the perseverance, creativity, and teamwork demonstrated by the students who brought it to life.

Special thanks are extended to the 22 student staff members, school administrators, and supportive parents whose encouragement and assistance—including countless rides to photography assignments—helped make this achievement possible.
