UN Experts Share Their Experiences With MUN

guest speakers

During the opportunity block on October 26,  Ms. Yun, the director of the World Food Programme (WFP), and Ms. Chun, Korea’s representative for the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC), visited our MUN club, sharing stories about the highs and lows of their careers, insights on passing resolutions, and details about their career.

Ms. Yun graciously shared her expertise with YISS for the second time, having previously joined YISS as a speaker for the HS Career Exploration, where she went in-depth about her career path and how the WFP operates. Additionally, she conveyed the difficulties of maintaining a disinterested political stance while working directly with adverse situations.

Ms. Chun described her humanitarian stance as a representative for UNICEF, including an instance where an assembly disputed over the meaning of a single word, ‘children’ for hours. Her experience clarified the intricacies of passing a clause, let alone a resolution.

Despite their busy schedules, Ms. Yun and Ms. Chun took their time to cooperate with the MUN club at YISS to affirm the club's members and activities. They encouraged the club members to make changes for the betterment of the world in the future as prospective diplomats.
