MS Academic Quiz Team Competes in Chicago

Middle school students, Elisa M. (8), Nolan S. (8), Nayoon L. (7), and Linden C. (7), traveled to Chicago this past weekend to participate in the Middle School National Championship Tournament (MSNCT). Academic Quiz Team (AQT) is a fast-paced buzzer competition in which teams of four players compete to answer questions that cover academic subjects. Teams qualified for the MSNCT through their performance at tournaments held throughout the year.

This year’s MSNCT brought together 160 teams from 112 schools across 27 states and South Korea. Among them, 16 schools had participated in tournaments for over 10 years! The YISS middle school AQT team won 5 out of 11 games to secure 2nd place in the consolation bracket.

While in the Windy City, the team, coach Mr. Sanders, and chaperone Ms. Kershner enjoyed deep dish pizza, visited The Bean, explored the Magnificent Mile (Michigan Avenue), wandered the Chicago History Museum, and even caught a Chicago Dogs baseball game.
