MS Boys Volleyball Scores at KAIAC Championship

For the last three months, the middle school boys volleyball team has been on a short but breathless journey, finally paying off the 2024 to 2025 MS KAIAC Boys Volleyball Championship and concluding a meaningful, special season.

The season started with passion: nearly forty students signed up for the tryouts, and they showed remarkable progress during the weekly Monday and Thursday practices, and four Jamboree bouts almost every Saturday. Twelve of the students were selected for the team. The team even had two scrimmages with the HS Boys Varsity team to develop their sense of play on the court, and the players gradually banded together as “One Team”. Finally, the intense KAIAC competition began.

Unfortunately, the boys team lost their first match against KIS, which greatly discouraged the players. However, they quickly gained strength by encouraging each other. During the second match, the players regained their confidence by beating traditional powerhouse SFS. Later, they advanced to the final with a 25-13 victory over KIS in their rematch.

During the final, the players played against a strong team CI. The team was tense, because they had never faced off at Jamborees, and CI was a high-quality team with powerful hitters and solid basic skills. Moreover, CI's coach had been a member of the Korean national team in the 70s and 80s. The team lost the 1st set due to several mistakes, especially in the serve, but from the 2nd set, the team changed the mood with focus and strategy. It brought the flow by making effective use of the two middle attackers, TJ L. and Ryan L. Furthermore, Ryan P. and TJ L.’s decisive serves were successful in succession in the 3rd set, and the boys team were finally champions!

Coach Samin Kim expressed his final thoughts: “The boys embraced each other and shared their joy. I'm really proud of our players who encouraged each other without blaming each other even if there were mistakes, and played as one team until the end. I am truly grateful to all the players who have been with me this season, and I am also deeply grateful to Coach Krahn for joining as an assistant coach in the middle of the season and giving valuable support. I am also grateful to the high school Boys Varsity players for advising middle school players and willing to play scrimmages. Lastly, I am truly grateful to the parents who have always shown generous support for the team.

This victory will go beyond simple achievements and will remain a story and memory of all of us who sweat and grow together. Go MS KAIAC Black Division Boys Volleyball Champions! Go Guardians!”
