Middle School Tennis is Serving Up Success
Written by Michael Smith, Middle School Tennis Coach
The middle school tennis team wrapped up a rewarding season on a high note this past Saturday. Beyond refining their tennis fundamentals and match strategies, the squad—comprised of nine girls and 12 boys—spent the season focusing on mental toughness and maintaining a positive mindset. These core values were on full display as they competed in three jamborees against Chadwick and GSIS, where athletes gained valuable match experience.
The season reached its peak at the KAIAC tournament hosted by SFS, where YISS was represented by its top eight boys and top eight girls. Each lineup featured four singles players and two doubles teams, all of whom leaned into their mental training to stay composed during high-pressure matches.
Leading the Guardians were 7th grader Alen K. for the boys and 8th grader Elyse O. for the girls. Their commitment to positivity and resilience not only led the team on the scoreboard but also set a strong foundation for the program's future.
