Students Participate in KIMEA MS Honor Choir

Written by Amber Stephens, Choir Director

On February 24, 17 middle school choir students represented YISS at the annual Korea International Music Educators Association (KIMEA) Middle School Honor Choir Festival at Seoul International School (SIS).

The KIMEA Honor Choir Festival brings together talented choir students from international schools across Korea who are nominated by their choir directors. This year’s festival featured two ensembles—a Mixed Choir and a Treble Choir. Throughout the day, students rehearsed challenging repertoire under the direction of guest conductors guest conductors and music educators from participating schools before presenting a final concert. The experience gave singers the opportunity to collaborate with peers from other schools while developing their vocal technique and ensemble performance skills.

The festival concluded with a final concert showcasing the music prepared during the day, allowing students to share their work with fellow participants, teachers, and families.
