I-Fest Showcases the Cultural Diversity of YISS
Written by Melissa Galloway and Judy Lee, International Fest Co-Chairs
On Friday, April 24, YISS hosted its International Fest (I-Fest), celebrating the cultural diversity of the school community. The event brought together students, families, faculty, and staff to experience a variety of global traditions through food, music, and performances.
Formerly known as the International Bazaar, the event was renamed International Fest to more clearly reflect its purpose of showcasing global cultures and fostering community connection.
The event began with the Parade of Nations, featuring nearly 70 student representing countries from around the world.
This year, the event was held on a Friday immediately after school. With beautiful weather and strong community participation, the event proved to be a great success, bringing the entire community together in a meaningful way. Cultural show performers showcased the national costumes, music, and dances on stage to honor and celebrate traditions and cultures.
Middle and high school students, as well as teachers and staff provided a dynamic lineup of live music and the tech team provided excellent sound support throughout the night.
Culture booth volunteers, embassies, and the Itaewon Global Village Center thoughtfully prepared beautiful booths and meaningful activities for attendees to engage and learn about nations and unique cultures.
The PTO and high school clubs also organized a variety of games and activities for younger students and helped to create an inclusive and engaging experience for all. The event was made possible through the collective effort of the entire YISS community.
Thank you to the many parents, teachers, staff, and student volunteers who contributed their time and energy across all aspects of the festival—from setup and stage coordination to performances, audio support, performances, culture booths, games, activities, food, promotion, media, and cleanup.
Finally, deepest gratitude to the PTO I-Fest Committee for their dedication and leadership. Their careful planning and creativity made it possible to honor and celebrate the many cultures that form the YISS community.
