Author Shares Her Life Story and Path to Success

On Tuesday, April 9, California-based author, Jessica Kim, spoke to elementary school students about her journey towards becoming an author. She shared her experience as the daughter of Korean immigrants to the United States and told humorous and powerful anecdotes with which students could relate.

Jessica focused on her Korean-American experience and path to becoming a full-time writer. She highlighted to students that success is not necessarily a straight-forward process by showing them her stacks of rejection letters. However, by following good advice and giving her best, she was able to receive another large stack of acceptance letters. Ultimately, her message was one of hard work and perseverance as being key to making your dream work.

Jessica also took the time to eat lunch with a group of raffle winners and have a book signing after-school. We thank her for adding a rich message to our students’ education.
