American Poet Kenn Nesbitt Captivates ES Students

On Friday, October 13, ES students were treated to an inspiring visit by Young People’s Poet Laureate Kenn Nesbitt. As a part of his Asian tour, Kenn visited YISS, captivating our students with his humorous and relatable poems. He drew from his books, More Bears, The Armpit of Doom, and others from his impressive collection of over twenty volumes of poetry and stories.

During his visit, Kenn did more than share his poems; he ignited a passion for poetry in our students. He actively engaged them in the creative process by composing a poem together and demonstrating the art of poetry writing. To further inspire them, he left our students with an unfinished poem, encouraging them to complete it independently.

This marked Mr. Nesbitt's second in-person visit to YISS, following his previous visit in 2015. He also connected with 4th graders virtually last school year. For those interested in exploring Kenn's work further, you can visit his website at Poetry4Kids.com, where you'll find a treasure trove of his poetic creations.
