Book Brunch Encourages Reading
On May 28, the 2nd grade classes held a Book Brunch, a reading celebration where the 2nd graders and their families got to enjoy donuts and juice while showing off how much they have grown as readers!
The event took place in the outdoor courtyard from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., during which students used their growing knowledge of literary genres to sort and discuss their favorite class books. This hands-on activity reinforced recent classroom lessons on genre identification and deepened their understanding of what makes each genre unique.
After reading their books, the students were able to rate how much they liked it in their reading menu booklets. The 2nd graders also had a fun trivia event led by Mrs. Moore, where the students got to earn an extra donut if they got a question about genres or famous children's books correct.
The Book Brunch was a fun and engaging way to bring learning to life through collaboration and conversation with their families!
