YISS MUN Team Wins Top Award at Harvard Model Congress Middle East

From January 17-22, the YISS Model United Nations (MUN) team traveled to Dubai to compete in the Harvard Model Congress Middle East Conference, hosted by the Canadian University Dubai. After a day of exploring Dubai, students participated in the conference with over 200 delegates from 23 schools from Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

Our team sent 18 delegates from all grade levels who collaborated on committees to solve a wide range of issues. This conference was different from others that YISS has participated in as it offered committees based on the United States government, with students taking on the role of Senators in some committees. Our students were challenged to grow in their creativity, public speaking skills, collaboration, and research abilities. Overall, twelve delegates won individual awards.

Ms. Dooley and Mr. Pash would like to commend the whole team for winning the overall highest team award of Best Large Delegation. They would also like to congratulate the following students on their individual awards:

Best Delegate: Seunghun L. (9), Saeyoon S. (9), Jaewon C. (10), Katie C. (10), Kaiden H. (10), Brooke L. (10), Mia M. (10), Matthew C. (11), Carsten H. (11), David C. (12)

Honorable Mention: Soyoon L. (10) and Rachel K. (12)

The MUN team will wrap up their season at the Global Education City MUN Conference in Jeju at the beginning of March.
