YISS Donates 363 Shoeboxes to Operation Christmas Child

From November 10-25, YISS students, teachers, and staff were given the opportunity to participate in Operation Christmas Child, a practical way to bless children in need across the world by filling gift boxes with toys, hygiene items, shoes, clothes, school supplies, stickers, handwritten cards, photos, and letters.

Although Operation Christmas Child has been in existence for over two decades, this year was the first time that YISS took part. We were uncertain how many in the YISS community would be interested; however, the enthusiasm and generosity of our community members exceeded all of our expectations.

Student groups like the YISS National Honor Society (NHS) sponsored 50 boxes, while our 4th grade classrooms sponsored 16 boxes. NHS students also came out early to help make our box collection time more festive and exciting with live Christmas music. We are so pleased to share that, together, our students, teachers, and staff filled and donated a total of 363 shoeboxes for children in Mongolia and Gabon!

What a joy and privilege to play a part in the mission of Operation Christmas Child to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world this Christmas season! We are deeply grateful for your hearts to bless others. Let’s pray that our gifts will make Christmas more special for the children who will receive them.
