Senior Kickoff and Timeline Presentation

On Saturday, August 22, 2020, the High School Counseling Department hosted the Senior Kickoff, a 4-hour event held in the YISS gym designed to get the Class of 2021 off and rolling in their ultimate year of high school. The 65 seniors present (out of 69) began by participating in team-bonding games organized by the Student Council. They were also introduced to the concept of RAFT (Reconciliation, Affirmation, Farewell & Think Destination) and given opportunities to recognize every member of the senior class by writing notes of affirmation.

The seniors officially kicked off their college application season with a couple of activities designed to stimulate their thinking regarding the college application process. They played the "GPA Game," learning about potential factors that could increase or decrease their chances of admission. They also took on the roles of admissions reps by reading through four fictitious applications and evaluating whether to admit, deny, or waitlist the applicants.

On the following Wednesday, August 26, the Counseling Team presented the Senior Parent Timeline via Google Meet. This was a meeting to primarily introduce the general process and dates the Counseling Team will follow to support the application process of the Class of 2021.
