Thespians Honored at ITS Awards and Induction Ceremony
On May 23, the International Thespian Society (ITS) held its annual awards and induction ceremony with 19 new inductees. We are so proud of all that students accomplished this theatre season, finishing the year with laughter and nostalgia and celebrating the productions and events of the year. We honored and celebrated our 11 senior thespians who are graduating this year with many distinctions in theatre during their tenure. To the Class of 2023, “All the world’s a stage!”
The awards presented are both for students who have participated in the YISS theatre program, as well as students who have been inducted into the society. Award nominees are voted on by theatre students, and the final awards selections are endorsed by the faculty advisors who have volunteered in theatre this year. Students do not have to be inducted into the society in order to receive theatre awards, but many are on their way to induction in order to earn accolades on the international level.
During the evening, we thanked and celebrated the parents of theatre students who volunteered and/or sent their children to rehearsals throughout the year, the performing arts teachers who make drama education possible at our school, the faculty advisors who assisted productions in the areas of design, set construction, costumes, lights and sound, and more. Finally, we also recognized the teachers, students, and friends who participated in the audience, volunteered at ticket or flower sales, or ushered as house crew. We thank you all for your service to the theatre.
