YISS Community Sends 350 Boxes to Children Abroad

Written by Blessed Lebona, Middle School Counselor

From November 4 to December 15, the YISS community came together to participate in Operation Christmas Child, a global outreach that provides gift-filled boxes to children in need around the world.

Students, families, teachers, and staff contributed by filling shoeboxes with toys, hygiene items, shoes, clothing, school supplies, stickers, photos, handwritten cards, and letters—simple but meaningful gifts that bring joy and encouragement to children during the Christmas season.

One of the most meaningful highlights of the project was seeing student leaders from every division serve together. Elementary and Middle School Guardian Ambassadors worked alongside the High School L-Crew to assemble and organize the gift boxes. Their collaboration reflected the heart of the YISS community—serving others with compassion and purpose.

Eighth grade students and teachers also participated in the final stage of the project by helping pack boxes at the warehouse as part of their annual service initiative. This experience allowed students to see firsthand how their collective efforts—and the generosity of the community—would impact children around the world.

Thanks to the generosity of the YISS community, a total of 350 gift boxes were collected. These boxes will be delivered to children in the Philippines, Mongolia, and Cambodia, bringing joy and hope during the Christmas season.

We are grateful to everyone who contributed their time, gifts, and prayers to make this outreach possible. What a privilege to play a part in the mission of Operation Christmas Child to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to others around the world this Christmas season!

As Scripture reminds us: “Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” — 1 John 3:18
