MS Cross Country Finishes Strong Season Together
Written by Angelo Poyo, Middle School Athletics Director
The Middle School Cross Country team concluded an incredible season marked by perseverance, unity, and growth. What began with 70 eager students at tryouts formed into a dedicated team of 41 runners who embraced both the physical and mental demands of the sport.
The team worked hard and pushed past their comfort zones during practices and races. From warm-ups to finish lines, runners encouraged one another, as well as challenged one another to be the best versions of themselves, not just as athletes but as individuals who reflect the YISS spirit of excellence and character.
The season culminated in outstanding results, with both the boys’ and girls’ teams earning second place in KAIAC competition. These achievements reflected months of practice and teamwork, and the coaches are proud of the athletes' resilience and growth. As the program looks ahead to next season, the team is eager to build on this strong foundation and continue setting a pace that future runners will be proud to follow.
