Students Challenged to Play the Long Game

Middle school students and staff were excited to return to the mountains of Namyangju for their Spiritual Retreat on September 15-17. Over 150 students and teachers attended this two-day and two-night event to grow spiritually closer to God while getting to engage in fun and friendship-building experiences.

Activities included large group games like soccer, volleyball, basketball, capture the flag, dodgeball, water balloon toss, and the now famous tug-of-war competition with the 6th grade girls prevailing overall! Classmates also had time for games, talking, laughing, and eating snacks together. Another weekend highlight was a giant slide where some students enjoyed thrills and great selfies on the way to the bottom. The last night of the retreat capped off with a giant bonfire, roasted marshmallows, and s’mores!

The most impactful part of the weekend was the three sessions of encouraging messages by special speaker Mr. Cam Scott. The theme of the retreat was “The Long Game,” and Mr. Scott helped students think about choices and decisions in following God for their whole lives starting now. Students were given the opportunity to connect with friends and teachers on a personal level through small groups and prayer time.
