Elementary Girls Attend Fairytale Ball with Their Fathers

Over 200 fathers and their elementary school daughters gathered on Friday, March 8, for the Father & Daughter Night organized by the YISS Dads' Club and YISS PTO. Thanks to the creativity and dedication of a talented team of parent volunteers, the main gymnasium was beautifully transformed into a ballroom inspired by Beauty and the Beast.

The night began in the lobby, where families posed for professional photos to capture the special occasion. Inside the ballroom, guests found their assigned tables, thoughtfully arranged by grade level to help foster community among families.

The evening officially kicked off with a warm welcome from Elementary Principal Mr. Benedict and Dads’ Club Representative Mark Mendes, followed by a delicious dinner buffet that included baked salmon, caprese salad, roasted asparagus, grilled pork, sandwiches, alongside a kid-friendly spread including chicken tenders, corndogs, fried rice, and macaroni and cheese. One of the event’s sweeter highlights was the interactive s’mores station, where guests roasted marshmallows and crafted their own gooey treats.

During dinner, the high school jazz band played a number of fun music selections to create a lively atmosphere. In keeping with the theme, the cast of the spring musical Beauty and the Beast performed several of their pieces to the delight of attendees.

Special thanks go to Dads' Club Representative Mark Mendes, Jessica Cha-Kim, Jane Chung, and the entire Father & Daughter Night Committee for their outstanding work in organizing every detail—from the charming photo booth and coloring station to the stunning corsages and lovely gift bags.

We’re also deeply grateful to the parent volunteers who transformed the gym into a fairytale setting, the NHS student volunteers who ensured everything ran smoothly, and DJ Mundade for bringing his music and energy to keep the dance floor lively.

From twirling under the lights to striking a pose at the photo booth, the evening was filled with joy, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
