Eighth Grade Gala Celebrates the Class of 2029

On Friday evening, May 16, the YISS community came together to honor and celebrate the Class of 2029 with the 8th Grade Gala, held in the school auditorium and along the covered driveway.

The evening began with opportunities for students to take photos with their families and friends, capturing the joy and pride of this milestone. The formal ceremony was filled with meaningful reflection as each 8th grader received a certificate of promotion, a letter from their teachers, and a heartfelt letter from their parents. One especially touching part of the evening was a time dedicated to honoring parents and recognizing their love and support throughout the students’ middle school journey.

Each student was individually recognized as they crossed the stage—one of the highlights of the night. “It was the most memorable moment in middle school,” said 8th grader R. Lee.

Following the ceremony, students enjoyed a celebratory dinner and live music. The evening continued with an exciting afterparty, where students shared laughter and made memories with open gym activities, karaoke, and laser tag.

The event was made possible through the collaboration of 8th grade parents, teachers, and administrators. The celebration honored the accomplishments and spirit of the Class of 2029 as they prepared to step confidently into high school.
