After School Activities Provide Channels for Enrichment and Fun

Written by Angelo Poyo, After School Activities Coordinator

At YISS, students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of after school activities (ASA) from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. alongside their friends and classmates. These activities offer dedicated time for students in kindergarten to 8th grade to explore their interests, develop new skills, and engage in fun extracurricular pursuits. From sports and the arts to academic enrichment, the program fosters personal growth, creativity, exercise, and fun.

During Trimester 1, ASA instructors led 33 activities across our campus from September 9 to November 15. The activities included junior engineers, Python coding, STEM, chess, ballet, arts and crafts, pop dance, taekwondo, fencing, basketball, swimming, soccer, and Spanish.

The ASA program is a key part of our commitment to a well-rounded education. It provides students with enriching experiences beyond the classroom, helping them grow both personally and socially. Participation in these activities also encourages students to meet peers from different grades and backgrounds, fostering a sense of community and cultural awareness in our diverse international environment.

Registration for Trimester 2 ASAs will be open from November 18 to 19. We look forward to seeing many students continue to take advantage of these enriching opportunities in the upcoming trimester.
