Young Voices Shine in Parade of Poets
On Tuesday, May 20, YISS 3rd grade students concluded their poetry writing unit with a special celebration called the "Parade of Poets." Parents were invited into the classrooms to celebrate the imagination and creativity of the young writers.
During this exciting event, the 3rd grade students proudly shared their original poems, showcasing their use of poetic elements such as rhyme, rhythm, alliteration, personification, onomatopoeia, and more.
The celebration began with students taking turns to stand before the audience to read one of their poems aloud. Afterwards, the families were invited to participate in a gallery walk, where they explored the full collection of the students' poems in their poetry portfolios. It was wonderful to see students' hard work, creativity, and confidence celebrated in such a meaningful and engaging way!
