On Saturday, December 9, 20 (10 male and 10 female) select middle school students represented YISS at the KAIAC Middle School All-Star swim competition. The competition was fierce as seven other schools also sent their best middle school swimmers. From the very first event, it was clear that the YISS team was focused.

The meet started with the Girls’ 200 Medley relay, and both of YISS’ girls’ relay teams dropped four seconds off of their previous best times! Not to be outdone, the Boys’ Medley relay teams competed next. Both of YISS’ boys’ relay teams dropped a surprising five seconds. The relay team of Eric O. (8), Timothy P. (8), Ryan Y. (8), and Bryan S.J. K. (7) won the event and set a new KAIAC record! These great relay performances spread confidence to the rest of the team as almost every swimmer continued to beat their personal bests in their individual events throughout the competition.
