MS Cross Country Teams Named KAIAC Champs

Oct 21, 2016

After a successful season of cross country meets at YISS, SFS, and KIS with lots of wins and personal bests, the middle school runners ran against the best in KAIAC at the All-Star meet hosted by TCIS on October 22. After several races being 3K in length, the All-Star meet challenged the runners to a tough 5K run. With a couple of strong runners from KIS, the girls team knew that it would have to be a team effort in order to come out on top. Hannah L. ran a strong race finishing 2nd overall followed by Lauren K. in 4th, Rebecca C. in 5th, Irene C. in 7th, Alex L. in 8th, and Flora C. in 9th. The team effort propelled the Lady Guardians to their 2nd consecutive KAIAC Championship.

The boys followed suit during their All-Stars 5K race and this time there was no question. After running over the competition all season there was no slowing down. Ian C. sped his way to an overall win followed by Youngju C. in 3rd, Daniel K. in 4th, Timothy P. in 5th, Benjamin L. in 6th, Ethan K. in 6th and Henry H. in 8th. The commanding win also allowed the boys to be named KAIAC Champions. Way to go!

A big thank you to Coach Grant Davis, Coach Greg Atkinson, and Coach Stephanie Manni for their dedication and outstanding efforts leading the teams this season.
