Middle Schoolers Experience What “God Can” Do on Retreat

By Greg Atkinson Sep 7, 2017

On Friday, September 1, 180 middle school students and staff excitedly loaded buses and traveled to the Vision Land Retreat Center in the beautiful hills of Namyangju-si. The weekend was full of activities that allowed students and teachers to share life together. It was a time of making new friends and building community as a middle school.

Each day included meals together, special large and small group building activities, organized games, and free time. Some of the fun included playing basketball, soccer, volleyball, and board games, as well as using a giant waterslide, four-way tug-of-war ropes, inflatable “bubble soccer” balls, and life-sized building blocks. One of the most memorable moments was the evening bonfire with “s’mores.” The students truly enjoyed one another’s company, and there was a lot of laughter and noise that reflected them fully enjoying the “retreat” away from the city and their regular routines.

Another special time each day was the large group meetings with singing and lessons from the Bible, which were followed by small group discussions about the theme - “GOD CAN.” Students were encouraged with reminders of how great God is, how much He wants to be known by them, and how much He can and wants to do in their lives.

It was a blessing to see the students load up the buses on Sunday to return home encouraged and focused for a great school year ahead - with stronger friendships with their peers and a stronger relationship with God. Visit the photo gallery page to view more pictures from the weekend.

*A special thanks goes to all the teachers who volunteered their weekend to tirelessly serve and encourage the students and to invest in their lives.
