On Friday, May 18, the YISS Middle School held its annual 8th Grade Gala–the celebration that marks the end of middle school and the transition into high school. Thanks to the creativity, talent, and resourcefulness of some middle school parents, the main gym and gym lobby were transformed into a beautiful galaxy-themed venue complete with a photo booth. Helium balloons, strands of lights, glittery streamers, and other decorations made it hard to believe that PE classes were held in that same space only hours before.

Even more stunning than the decorations were the students. They came dressed to impress in their suits and ties and dresses. Everyone enjoyed the gourmet meal catered by Crave Catering, as well as live music provided by Music Storm, a rock band composed of five talented and brave 8th grade boys. The event was a special night for students as they reflected upon their middle school experience and personally thanked their parents for their loving support by presenting them with flowers.

The annual gala creates special memories, as well as helps celebrate the efforts and achievements of the 8th graders. It also marks the beginning of their transition into high school. The YISS middle school staff is excited for the growth and impact this particular group of students will have on the school, community, and world. Congratulations to the Class of 2022! We are excited for you and the things to come!
