Varsity Boys Volleyball Team Wins ACSC Tournament

By Dan Hale Oct 23, 2016

The varsity boys volleyball team traveled to Hong Kong from October 18-22 to compete in the Asia Christian Schools Conference (ACSC) tournament. These conference includes teams from the Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Guam, and China.

The boys overcame some huge obstacles to take the crown. During round robin play, the YISS team lost to host school, ICS. The ICS team ran through the first stage without losing a match, and they looked to dominate the tournament on their home court. Our boys team did not lose heart and persevered by not losing another match the rest of the tournament. They went on to beat ICS in the semi-finals and again in the finals in an intense 5-set game to win the championship.

The Guardian Way shined through even more than the team's play. The varsity boys team also received the tournament's sportsmanship award, illustrating the character of YISS students. Way to go, Guardians. We are very proud of the way that you represent our school on and off the court across the region.
