S.E.W. Helps Students Tune Into the Right Frequency

Jan 22, 2017

We welcomed Tom Shefchunas (Shef) and Andy Thompson to speak and host our Spiritual Emphasis Week (SEW) this year. Shef talked to us about 'The Great Commandment' and invited us to examine the Scriptures and see what Jesus said about it by unpacking what it means to 'Love Others,' 'Love Yourself,' and 'Love God.'

We were pleased to welcome back our musicians from last year: Justin and Dylan, who led us in worship throughout the week, and this year, they brought along their friend Cory. These guys love Jesus and are very talented at what they do.

One highlight, which was also something new this year for SEW, was each day all students had the opportunity to respond to talk. We broke up into small groups led by teachers, which were age and gender specific. The small group times were meaningful as students engaged with their peers and teachers in healthy conversations about the day's topic, life, and God.

While the weather stopped us from being able to come to school on Friday, the roads cleared up enough so that we could cap the week with our SEW Night of Reflection and Fun. Over 50 students and more than a dozen faculty and staff came out to eat pizza, worship, and play games. The week served as yet another reminder of how God is on the move and at work among us.
