Mock Trial Team Participates in Prestigious KMTA Competition

The Mock Trial program helps students acquire a working knowledge of the judicial system while developing analytical abilities and communication skills. By studying cases and preparing strategies and arguments for trial, students actively experience the excitement of working in teams, exchanging ideas, setting goals, and examining issues.

Recently a YISS Mock Trial team consisting of seniors Jaye C. and Diane K., junior Allison R., and sophomores Irene G., Daniel L., and Joanne L. competed at the annual Korea Mock Trial Association (KMTA) competition at the COEX Convention Center the weekend of August 12-13. This is the most prestigious and demanding of the Mock Trial competitions in which YISS participates, and the students did well against some very good Mock Trial teams.

The YISS student team placed 5th out of 14 teams, which included teams from schools such as KIS, SIS, KMLA, Hanyoung, and others. In addition, Diane K. garnered an individual award for Best Attorney. Congratulations to these students on their success, and best wishes to all YISS Mock Trial students as they prepare for additional competitions later this year.
