HS Students Attend Ascend Leadership Conference

By Billy Fisher Nov 17, 2016

Over fifty-five students attend the inaugural ASCEND Student Leadership Summit hosted by YISS and GSIS on November 11-13. The ASCEND leadership summit began through a shared passion by our own High School Chaplain, Billy Fisher, and the Student Life Minister at GSIS, Eddie Lozano. Both men desire to build up and develop emerging leaders, and together they share the desire to partner in creating a new, one-of-a-kind event in Korea by which students from multiple international schools could come together for a time of leadership training, collaboration, networking, games and activities, and small group engagement with adult leaders from each school.

Dr. Jon Bullock, who operates schools in the Pacific Northwest, and has been featured as a TED speaker, led the ASCEND plenary sessions, and students were grouped together in job-alike groups and mixed small groups, which provided opportunities to network and collaborate. In all, four schools joined us for the ASCEND Student Leadership Summit, which took place at the beautiful UNESCO Peace Center, providing a nice environment where the summit could take place. Be on the lookout in the spring for more details on next year’s summit and plan to join us for this incredible leadership development event.
