High Schoolers Survive Zombie Apocalypse During Retreat

Mar 21, 2017

On Friday, March 3, a group of 80 students and teachers headed over to Vision Land Retreat Center to develop new friendships, have fun, and spend time relaxing rather than working or studying. The weekend away from home resulted in some enjoyable high school memories for the students.

The Student Council was responsible for planning the retreat's schedule and facilitating the event. During the day, students were able to play sports and organized games, socialize, and enjoy the mountainous scenery. During the pitch-black nights, students, armed only with their flashlights and glow sticks, fought to survive in two zombie apocalypse-themed games. During one of the games, an anonymous junior commented that she felt that the retreat was the best she had ever gone to. The retreat culminated with a warm finale at the blazing logs of the campfire. Roasting marshmallows and hotdogs, students were able to enjoy an appetizing evening snack before they returned to their rooms and ordered chicken and pizza.

YISS students and teachers are known for working hard, but they know how to have a good time too!
