The YISS boys’ and girls’ cross country teams chose "heart" for their team word for the season, and they embraced that theme by giving a "TR (total release)” of themselves in every practice and competition. As a young team with over half being freshman runners, they were led by senior captains Roberto H. and Grace P., along with juniors Maya R., Mia C. and Sean R. The team showed heart by overcoming many injuries and by bonding together as one team, cheering on each runner to personal records for almost everyone.

One of the team's traditions and highlights was the annual trip to the island of Guam for the Asia Pacific Invitational to compete with over 12 of the best teams from around Asia. In the end, all the runners had a great season highlighted by All-Conference awards for Roberto H. (12), Francesco H. (9), and Ariana B. (10).

The boys’ team finished in 3rd place at the KAIAC Championships, and the girls’ team finished in 4th. Ariana had the best KAIAC Championship finish in YISS Girls’ XC history with a 4th place finish. Freshmen Abigail O. and Teo Y. both finished in the top 25 at the KAIAC Championships. All-KAIAC Championship awards were earned by Roberto, Francesco, Timothy P. (9) and Ariana B. With our young and dedicated team, we look forward to an even stronger season next year!
