Dressed for success, the boys varsity soccer team recently traveled to Penang, Malaysia to compete for the ACSC Championship at Dalat International School. The competition lasted for four days from October 18-21. Despite the hot weather and low team numbers, the boys made YISS proud, competing hard in each game and leaving everything on the field.

The team added eight new players this year, yet was still able to improve significantly upon last year’s result. The week was a time of growth for the team, which was led by captains Shutaro H. (12) and Jordan H. (12). Ethan K. (9), Jeremy K. (10), Daniel K. (11), Victor K. (10), Jordan H. (12), and Shutaro H. (12) scored goals for the Guardians, and Job T. (10) and Meshal A. (11) led a strong defensive effort. The highlight of the tournament came from a last-second goal by Shutaro H., which tied the game with Morrison, and enabled YISS to earn their first ACSC point in three years. Jordan H. was awarded all-tournament honors for the Guardians.

Off the field, the boys were able to grow closer as a team through team dinners, FIFA tournaments, and the annual ACSC YISS talent show performance. The addition of new players brings a lot of excitement and anticipation for the upcoming spring KAIAC season.
