YISS had the privilege of hosting the annual KIMEA Elementary Chorus Festival on Saturday, March 17, 2018. The festival's performers came from 11 schools around Korea–CI, CDS, DIS, DSS, GSIS, KIS-Jeju, KIS-Pangyo, KIS-Seoul, SFS, SIS, and YISS. The day-long event was filled with combined rehearsals with performers and conductors from various schools, individual rehearsals, food, and fun!
The concert, which took place at 2:00 p.m., packed out the house with an excited audience from all over the country. First, six individual schools sang on their own. Those performances were followed by five collaborative pieces sung by all 205 performers.
The day was filled with energy and excitement, and the experience left students and audience members alike with an appreciation for music and creativity.
The event was made possible with the help of many volunteers and staff, including the middle school and high school Tri-M members and PTO parents from YISS. It was the first time for YISS to host this exciting event, but hopefully it will not be the last!
