YISS Chess Players Excel at KAIAC Tournament

By Candy Swift Nov 29, 2016

On November 12, a group of nine elementary and three middle school students traveled to GSIS to match skills and strategies against players from eight other international schools in the Fall 2016 KAIAC Chess Tournament. Amid moves and countermoves, our Guardians played impressively securing five of the top 10 positions. Maximilian H., 6th grade, won all six of his games and ultimately claimed first place in the JV Division.

In the Elementary division, Andrew L. earned fourth place, and Woo Sung L., our youngest member in 2nd grade, came in at sixth place. A special award was given to Kyra J., 5th grade, for highest female score in the Elementary. Overall, it was an enjoyable and educational experience for all players. The next KAIAC Chess tournament will be held on February 18 at KIS. Go Guardians!
