The YISS soccer field and upper playground played host to more than 80 kids playing soccer and climbing like monkeys for the Kindergarten and First Grade Playdates that took place on August 31 and September 7. Building relationships is an important part of the educational process, and the playdates helped the students build relationships amongst each other. These were especially fun events for the students in kindergarten and first grade because they do not normally get to play on the upper playground equipment.
The playdate events also allowed parents to build relationships with other parents. In addition, kindergarten and first grade teachers and elementary administration showed up to chat with the parents.
The elementary office and the PTO worked together to organize the events. The PTO also provided drinks and snacks for the event. The elementary administration will be working with the PTO and grade-team teachers to plan similar events for families with children in 2nd-5th grades. We look forward to hosting these students and families in the near future!
