Extraordinary Elementary Spellers Outlast Competitors for Championship

By Anna Smith Nov 23, 2017

The 2017-18 Elementary Spelling Bee Championship took place on Thursday, November 9. This year, third graders were invited to participate in the event along with fourth and fifth graders, making it an all-day affair of three intense competitions. Competitors from all three grade levels wowed the audience with their super spelling skills, and three special winners—Elaine A. (3), Nathan P. (4), and Spencer P. (5)—took home trophies!

The Spelling Bee is a fun opportunity for students to be involved in an academic competition that focuses on practicing spelling strategies and sharpening memorization skills. The hope is that students who participate will feel an increase in their self-confidence and a healthy level of pride in such an achievement.

All of the students competing did an excellent job displaying sportsmanship, and students in the audience showed their support and encouragement for their classmates throughout the entire competition. It was a great day celebrating our extraordinary spellers! Congratulations to all the students who participated in our Spelling Bee Championship!
