The YISS Girls' 4th and 5th grade soccer team was busy learning the basics of soccer during the months of September and October. Coaches Kelley Creecy and Lisa Marshall ran the girls through drills centered on dribbling, passing, and throw-ins, but their biggest focus was on developing teamwork. It was especially impressive to see how some of the girls were willing to step out of their comfort zones by playing in new positions.
Although they only had a limited amount of Friday afternoon practices, the girls took on the challenge of participating in an all-day jamboree at GSIS on Saturday, October 20. Nineteen girls split up into two teams, and each team played four games. The players took turns in different positions, always with positive attitudes. Although the day was long, they all ended it with smiles and a well-deserved sense of accomplishment.
